You don't need more photos of your dog, you need these

If you’re a dog owner, there’s a pretty good chance your phone is full of photos of your dog. Sleeping, eating, running around, looking cute or doing something ridiculous that made you reach for your phone yet again. And honestly, there’s nothing wrong with that. I have plenty of photos of my own dogs on my phone too.

But there’s a difference between having thousands of photos and having photographs you genuinely treasure.

How many would you actually print?

Your phone is fantastic for capturing everyday moments, but most of those photos simply disappear into your camera roll. You might have 2,000 photos of your dog, but how many would you actually choose to print, frame or put in an album?

And how many really capture their personality rather than simply showing that they were there?


You’re probably missing from most of them

There’s another problem with taking all the photos yourself: you’re usually behind the camera. You have plenty of photos of your dog curled up beside you, looking at you or doing something funny, but you’re rarely in those memories.

A professional photo session gives you something your phone can't easily give you: photographs of your dog and the relationship you share with them.

Your dog doesn't need to be perfect​

Professional photographs don't need to mean perfectly posed photos with your dog staring at the camera. In fact, some of my favourite images are the ones where dogs are simply being themselves.​

The goofy expressions, the cuddles, the funny little quirks and the way they look at you are often the things you'll want to remember most.​


It’s not about having more photos

I'm certainly not going to tell you to stop taking photos of your dog on your phone. Those everyday snapshots are important too, and one day you'll probably be very glad you have them.

A professional photo session is simply about creating something different. Photographs that intentionally capture who your dog is, the relationship you share and the memories you want to hold onto.

Because one day, those photographs won't just be photos of your dog.

They'll be some of the most important things you own.
