Every dog is wonderfully unique. Some are brave, some are hilarious, some are cheeky and some are gentle old souls. Canines of Character celebrates all the personalities behind the four-legged friends we share our lives with.
Book your charismatic canine into these 30-minute sessions and show the world how amazing they are. Afterwards, you'll choose your favourite ten professionally edited images from a private online gallery, plus your own copy of the book once they are published.

About the project
I'm looking for 25 incredible dogs from Sydney and the surrounding areas to be featured in volume two of Canines of Character, a limited-edition fundraising coffee table book celebrating the unique personalities, quirks and charm that make every dog so special.
More than a photography project
Canines of Character is about more than beautiful portraits. It's about capturing the spirit of your dog and preserving the little things that make them who they are. Each featured dog will enjoy a personalised portrait experience and receive a dedicated feature in the book, complete with stunning imagery and a custom-written quote from their perspective.
100% of proceeds from book sales will also be donated to Sophie's Legacy, a wonderful charity supporting the amazing people working in the vet industry who save the lives of our pets each and every day.

The Project Details
• Dogs from all over Sydney are welcome to apply, no matter their breed or age
• The session fee of $495 includes a personalised 30 minute photo session for one dog. If you would like to extend your session or if you have more than one dog, you can upgrade for an additional $195
• Each session booking also includes one copy of the Canines of Character volume two book, additional books will be available for purchase online
• 100% of the profits from book sales will be donated to Sophie's Legacy
• Only 25 spots are available, and once these spots are booked in no more dogs can be accepted
• Sessions will take place at select locations in Sydney from August - October 2026

Create beautiful custom artworks of your charismatic canine
The Photo Session Experience
Creating beautiful portraits is just the beginning. My goal is to turn those moments into timeless artwork that celebrates your dog's character for years to come.
The session process:
• Once you have booked your Canines of Calendar session, you will receive a booking confirmation with questionnaire.
• Before the session we will have a phone consultation to plan our session, get to you know you and your dog, discuss the session location and answer any questions you may have.
• Our session day is all about you and your dog having fun, exploring our location and capturing images you will cherish. You are more than welcome to be in images with your dog, only images of your dog will be published in the book.
• Within 1-2 weeks after our session you will receive an email with a link to your private gallery. This is where you will see your images for the first time and select your ten favourites, with the option to purchase all the images from your gallery for an additional $250.
• I will then edit the images to perfection and provide a download link for you to access your images and save them in a safe place.
Sophie’s Legacy was established following the passing of Dr Sophie Putland, a much-loved daughter, sister and veterinarian in 2021 at just 33 years old. Sophie was passionate about veterinary medicine, but the pressures and stress of the profession took a devastating toll.
Veterinarians face a significantly higher risk of suicide than the general population, making mental health support within the veterinary industry more important than ever. Sophie’s Legacy works to raise awareness, provide support and help create meaningful change across the veterinary profession.
Sophie's Legacy are developing a strategic plan that includes promoting workplaces where veterinary staff can thrive, engaging with industry and government to influence positive change, and creating public awareness of the crisis along with ideas on how to help. Vert staff save lives each and every day, and I want to help support them doing their amazing work.

By keeping the project small, every dog receives
the time, creativity and care needed to create
something truly special.
My dog can't be off leash, is this a problem?
Not at all, the majority of dogs I photograph are on lead which is removed in the editing process.
I have more than one dog, can they also be photographed?
Yes, we will upgrade your session to include more time for all the dogs in your home so they can also be included in the book.
Can we be in the photos too?
Certainly! Only your dog will feature in the book, but this is a great opportunity to have cherished memories captured together with your four-legged friend.
What happens if the weather is not ideal on our session day?
The session will go ahead as long as it is not raining. If we need to reschedule the session, I will do everything in my power to pick a date suitable for us both. There is no re-booking fee.
I have a reactive dog, can I still book a session?
Yes you certainly can, I know lots of spots throughout Sydney which are suitable for reactive dogs. will always advocate for your dog, and I am happy to keep an eye out for other dogs to make sure we have a stress-free session.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes I do, payment plans are interest free and are split into two payments 14 days apart.
