Every now and then, a session comes along that reminds me just how precious these moments are. My session with Blue, an Arabian Stock Horse shown as VC He's Got Power, was one such experience. Sadly, Blue had recently suffered a paddock accident, and this session was arranged shortly before he was laid to rest.
The day was filled with rain, but just as the session began, the clouds parted, and we were given a reprieve long enough to capture some truly beautiful and heartfelt images. We began the session with a series of black background images of Blue with this favourite people as well as some individual portraits of him. We captured images of him both in his bridle and using my photo halter, which was easily removed in Photoshop.
We had a few spits of rain, but thankfully it never fell hard enough to stop the session. After a quick break we were graciously allowed to venture onto the next door neighbour's property to capture a few images of Blue and his favourite people on the green grass surrounded by native Australia trees. As we captured the last group image, the heavens opened up and our session came to a close.
Sam chose to purchase all the digital files from the session, a fitting tribute to Blue’s memory. It was an emotional day, and I’m honoured to have been a part of it, helping to capture the bond they shared forever.
